    A method of preserving timber from decay liable to arise in the presence of moisture, e.g. in railway sleepers, comprises making holes in the timber at appropriate points and inserting in each hole a plug which has been fused into a monolithic element from a particulate wood preservative such as boric oxide; the wood preservative diffuses into the timber from the plug, to establish a zone protected from decay, more slowly from a fused than from a compacted plug.

    1 The invention relates to the woodworking industry, in particular, to antiseptic methods, or wood. The method of protective treatment of wood is known, consisting in the preparation of nests and the introduction of an antiseptic into them lj. There is also a known method of preserving timber from rotting, which consists in drilling nests and placing a protective substance 2 in them. A disadvantage of the known methods is the low service life of the timber. The purpose of the invention is to increase the service life of timber. This goal is achieved by using substances containing 820 as solid elements as a safety substance. 2 In FIG. Figure 1 shows schematically a proposed device for carrying out a method for preserving timber from rotting, top view; in fig. 2 - the same, side view; in fig. 3 is the same, the external arrangement of the nests. The method of preserving timber from rot consists in drilling nests 1 in zones 2 of the most intensive rotting of timber, for example, sleepers 3 with metal plates 4 and screws 5, and placing protective substances in slots 1 in the form of solid elements 6. This method follows this method. In zones 2 of the most intense rotting of timber, for example, the sleepers 3, are prepared by drilling nest 1, in which the safety substance is placed as solid elements 6, after which nests 1 are closed and the cycle is repeated.
